Setting up the network

General recommendations when you are setting up your Logger

Preventive actions

Here are some general recommendations when you are setting up your Logger to minimize the risk of Node lost .

Device:

  • Make sure that when mounting the device it is isolated from ground and metallic objects.

  • Make sure that the plastic bushings on the device are not damaged.

  • If possible make sure that it ́s not mounted near any kind of high power equipment such as power cables, power transformers or power generators or strong radio transmitters for example GSM base stations.

  • Check that the device connector is not damaged, that it’s clean, that the inside of it is not oxidized and there is no moisture.

Device cable network:

  • Make sure all metallic parts on Connectors, T-junctions and Terminators are isolated from ground and metallic objects using vulcanizing tape.

  • Make sure the cables are not damaged.

  • Make sure the shields of the cables are intact, including the connectors.

  • Make sure there are no cable reels in the cable network.

  • Make sure the connectors are not damaged, that they are clean, that the inside of them are not oxidized and there is no moisture.

  • Make sure that the O-rings inside the Connectors are intact.

  • Make sure all Connectors, T-junctions and Terminators are protected from moisture using vulcanizing tape.

  • Make sure that T-junctions and Terminator are shielded - use the “grey” type. If possible use a shielded Terminator.

  • If possible make sure the Sensor cables not are routed in parallel for long lengths with other power lines.
